Keeping Out the Silk Eaters

I framed the Jade Satin
Nightgown with her love
letters. Each letter kissed
by emerald lips that left oval
prints cracked with character.

The frame measured 24x36x2,
so the nightgown had to be gently
gathered and the silk eased
into natural contours that flattered
it, as it had flattered
many nights in the past.

The delicate straps were worn thin
from use and the areas directly
above the hips were faded
from strong hands slipping the silky
satin towards the breast.

Before sealing with glass
I hid our bedroom key and a moth
ball between the folds of the Jade
Satin Nightgown.
